Gosia Dębska, director, dramaturge, theatre pedagogue

Gliwice, Poland

Her work as a director started when her school exam won The Young Directors Forum – the biggest Polish festival for young directors. Modern puppetry and post-dramatic construction, as well as a sense of humor and empathy not only for the characters but also for the audience, became important in her work. Every project that she does, either for children or adults, mixes hard topics with light humor with an emphasis on empathy during the creating process and also on stage. She explores different fields of theatre: an opera for children, a modern dance performance for teenagers, diversity and living with disabilities, a dance/graphic piece for 3-year-olds with music by Bach, and a feminist manifesto for adult audiences that explored textures and movement. In every performance, she focuses on visual aspects and creating beautiful images. She works with theatres for young audiences, puppet theatres, state dramatic theatres and independent stages.
